I Always Wanted to be a Writer!

As a child, adults would often ask: “What do you want to be when you grow up?” I usually responded: “A writer!”

My mother and stepfather nurtured that dream by giving me books on every topic imaginable. My high school guidance counselor, Mrs. Grice, often said: “When are you going to write that book?!” I even won the prestigious Silver Knight Award in English and Literature from The Miami Herald in my high school senior year.

Then, Life happened.

I went to university and, initially, majored in Journalism. But, that’s not the kind of writing I wanted to do. I wanted to write about ancient cultures in faraway lands, so I changed my major to Anthropology.

My book, Only the Strong Survive: A Womanist Journey, is a result of my lifelong study of goddesses, queens and ordinary women who overcame incredible obstacles to live extraordinary lives! Please order the book on Amazon or request me as a speaker to learn about the women I have studied for a lifetime!
